Robert Marcelis started working with Kersten Communications on a limited basis in July 2009, but has quickly proven himself to be a prolific researcher who excels in producing high quality quantitative and qualitative research. Robert continues to take on additional responsibilities and has been instrumental in several key KC research projects.
Prior to working for Kersten Communications Marcelis worked for the Division of Recycling with the California Department of Conservation where he assisted in a number of research projects and recommended legislative changes to the California Litter Reduction Act, among other things.
In the Spring of 2008, Marcelis was awarded the Leon Panetta Congressional Internship that is granted to the top student chosen from each CSUS. In the fall of 2008 Marcelis and went to work in the Washington, D.C. office of Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (D) to research legislative issues, update reports and website content, and serve as the primary constituent services representative.
Marcelis has also served as a student intern for Senator Darrell Steinberg (now Senate Pro Tem) where he assisted with casework and constituent correspondence. He has been an active member of the Sacramento Young Democrats, a student organizer, volunteered on the Phil Angelides for Governor campaign in 2006 and worked on West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon’s campaign for State Assembly in 2008.
Marcelis is currently finishing up his Bachelor’s degree in Government at Sacramento State University and plans to obtain his J.D. from the McGeorge School of Law while working for Kersten Communications.
